The Datalogic Gryphon GD4690 is a corded barcode scanner designed to streamline data capture in shops, warehouses and professional environments. Its High Performance (HP) optical system combines two sensors to read codes of different sizes at both short and long distances.

With AI-assisted decoding, USB and RS-232 connectivity, and IP52 protection, it facilitates integration into workstations that require fast and reliable scans throughout the working day.

Dual sensor for reading codes at different distances

The HP optical system incorporates a 1.5-megapixel sensor and a VGA sensor. This combination extends the depth of field and allows the scanner to handle high-density codes and labels located at greater distances.

Under standard conditions, it can read Code 39 barcodes from 20 mil up to 125 cm and EAN/UPC barcodes from 13 mil up to 100 cm. The effective range depends on the size of the barcode, its print quality, contrast and lighting.

This flexibility is useful when you need to switch between small product labels and codes on boxes or packaging without changing the scanner.

AI-powered decoding to reduce reading errors

The Gryphon GD4690 combines a dual-core processor with AI-based decoding algorithms to improve the recognition of damaged, distorted or poorly printed codes.

It also facilitates scanning on curved, glossy or reflective surfaces, which are common on commercial packaging and labels.

Its motion tolerance of 70 inches per second allows it to capture codes whilst moving rapidly, reducing the need to bring the object to a complete standstill before scanning it.

Compatibility with 1D, 2D and GS1 Digital Link codes

The scanner recognises the main 1D and 2D barcode formats, including Code 39, Code 128, EAN, UPC, QR, Data Matrix, PDF417 and Aztec.

It also supports GS1 Digital Link, postcodes, composite codes and Digimarc digital watermarks, enabling its use in various identification and traceability processes.

As well as reading printed labels, it can capture codes displayed on mobile phone screens, a handy feature for validating digital entries, vouchers and orders.

Precise targeting and immediate confirmation

The green cross-shaped LED pointer helps you select the code you wish to read, even when several labels are close together.

Datalogic Green Spot technology projects a visual signal onto the code following a successful scan. This is complemented by 3GL indicators and an adjustable audible alert.

The LED illumination, selectable between warm white and red, allows you to adapt the scan to the characteristics of the surfaces and the lighting conditions.

USB and RS-232 connectivity for flexible integration

The Gryphon GD4690 features a multi-interface compatible with USB and RS-232, making it easy to integrate into various checkout counters, order-picking stations and professional systems.

The kit includes a USB cable for connecting the scanner. Specific connection and power supply accessories, not included in this product, may be required to use the RS-232 interface.

Motionix technology detects movement to facilitate transitions between scanning modes. Datalogic Aladdin software allows the scanner’s parameters to be configured according to the requirements of each installation.

Durability for daily professional use

The device is designed to withstand repeated drops from 1.8 metres onto concrete, which helps to reduce incidents caused by accidental knocks.

Its IP52 protection rating offers limited resistance to the ingress of dust and falling water droplets within the conditions specified by this classification.

The Gryphon 4600 series also incorporates eco-design criteria, such as the use of more than 70 per cent recycled material in the scanner’s plastic components, with the aim of reducing its environmental impact.
