The Zebra DS2208 is a wired 1D/2D scanner designed for professional applications. This configuration combines the scanner with a USB cable and a presentation stand, allowing you to switch easily between handheld and hands-free scanning.

A single scanner for your 1D and 2D barcodes

The DS2208 supports a wide range of symbologies. In particular, it can read Code 39, Code 128, Code 93, UPC/EAN, GS1 DataBar, PDF417, Data Matrix, QR Code, Micro QR and MaxiCode.

Its 640 x 480-pixel sensor is combined with Zebra’s PRZM decoding technology, designed to optimise capture and facilitate the reading of barcodes that are of poor quality.

Handheld or hands-free scanning depending on your business needs

The stand provides greater flexibility at the workstation. When you place the DS2208 on its stand, the scanner can automatically switch from handheld mode to hands-free mode without requiring any manual changes to the settings.

In hands-free mode, the scanning speed for a 13-mil UPC code can reach 76.2 cm per second. This configuration is particularly suitable for workstations where items need to be presented quickly in front of the scanner.

Omnidirectional scanning to simplify every scan

Omnidirectional capture eliminates the need to position the barcode precisely in relation to the scanner. The DS2208 thus offers intuitive operation for repetitive tasks and reduces the number of steps required for each scan.

For a 13-mil UPC code, the typical read range specified by Zebra is between 1.3 and 36.8 cm. The direct decode indicator also provides visual confirmation when a scan is successful.

USB connection for continuous wired use

This configuration is designed for a wired USB connection. The DS2208 can be powered directly by the host device, eliminating the need to manage a battery and avoiding interruptions caused by recharging.

The DS2200 range also supports several host interfaces, including USB, RS-232, interface decoder and TGCS (IBM) 46XX over RS485. The universal cables in the Zebra LS2208 range are backwards compatible, which can facilitate migration from an existing 1D scanning infrastructure.

Designed for regular professional use

The DS2208 withstands repeated drops of 1.5 m onto concrete and 250 impacts from a height of 0.5 m, according to tests specified by Zebra. Its IP52 rating provides protection suited to the rigours of daily professional use.

The scanner operates between 0 °C and 50 °C and withstands relative humidity of 5 per cent to 95 per cent, non-condensing. Its immunity to ambient light reaches 107,600 lux, making it easy to use in a variety of lighting conditions.

Simplified configuration and administration

The default settings are optimised to enable rapid commissioning in a wide range of applications. The Zebra 123Scan software then allows you to customise settings, upgrade the firmware, view scanned data and generate reports.

For deployments involving multiple scanners, Zebra also offers the Scanner Management Service to facilitate their remote administration. Over 90 international keyboards are supported.
