Datalogic QuickScan Mobile QM2500 - Reliable wireless 2D scanning up to 30 metres

The Datalogic QuickScan Mobile QM2500 is a professional wireless 2D scanner designed for applications requiring freedom of movement and rapid barcode capture. It utilises Datalogic’s proprietary STAR Cordless System and, in this configuration, operates on a frequency of 433.92 MHz.

The kit includes the black scanner, the BC2090 base and the 90A052258 USB cable, offering a complete solution for retail outlets, commercial services, healthcare, the public sector and light manufacturing.

1-megapixel 2D imager

The 1-megapixel image sensor with a resolution of 1280 × 800 pixels enables the capture of a wide variety of barcode symbologies. Omnidirectional scanning eliminates the need to precisely align the scanner with the barcode, speeding up repetitive tasks.

The QuickScan QM2500 automatically recognises the main 1D linear barcodes, including GS1 DataBar, and supports 2D codes such as Aztec, China Han Xin, Data Matrix, MaxiCode, Micro QR, QR Code and DotCode.

Extensive compatibility with professional codes

In addition to 1D and 2D barcodes, the scanner supports various postal, stacked and composite codes. These include Australian Post, British Post, China Post, IMB, Japanese Post, KIX Post, Planet, Postnet and Royal Mail, as well as PDF417, MicroPDF417 and various GS1 DataBar variants.

The QM2500 model also supports Digimarc Digital Watermark codes and OCR-A, OCR-B and MICR capabilities, expanding its potential for use in professional applications handling different types of data.

Green Spot and high-precision aiming

The aiming system uses a 468 nm blue LED, whilst illumination is provided by a 617 nm red LED. On QM models, the aiming system uses two distinct blue triangles to help the operator precisely locate the scan area.

The patented Datalogic Green Spot technology provides visual confirmation of a successful scan directly on the barcode. This is complemented by a ‘good read’ LED and an audible signal with an adjustable tone.

Motionix for seamless transitions between scanning modes

The patented Motionix technology detects the scanner’s movement and facilitates the transition between operating modes. This feature allows the device to adapt naturally to the way it is held and used whilst working.

Motion tolerance reaches 30 IPS, whilst the specified scan angles are ±65° for Pitch, 360° for Roll and ±65° for Skew.

Resolution up to 3 mil

The QuickScan QM2500 achieves a maximum resolution of 0.077 mm / 3 mil for 1D linear barcodes and PDF417. For Data Matrix, the resolution is 0.127 mm / 5 mil, whilst for QR Code it is 0.17 mm / 6.7 mil.

The minimum print contrast ratio is 15%, enabling the reading of codes with varying levels of quality and contrast.

Depth of field suitable for day-to-day operations

The reading range depends on the symbology, size, contrast, lighting and scanning angle. With 5 mil Code 39, the typical range is from 0.5 to 25 cm, whilst with 10 mil Code 39 it reaches 38 cm.

For 10 mil Data Matrix, the range is up to 21.5 cm, whilst 13 mil EAN/UPC-A reaches 41 cm. For 20 mil QR Codes, the stated range is up to 37 cm.

3,250 mAh battery for extended use

The scanner features a 3,250 mAh lithium-ion battery, designed to deliver up to 115,000 scans on a single charge.

The charging time for the scanner alone, using an external Type-C power supply, is approximately 3 hours. Charging via the cradle takes approximately 4 hours with an external 12 VDC power supply. The LED indicators on the base show the charging status and when the cycle is complete.

IP52 protection and drop resistance

The QuickScan QM2500 is designed for everyday use in professional environments. Its construction offers IP52 protection against dust and water and withstands repeated drops from a height of 1.5 m onto a concrete surface.

The device is designed to withstand 10 million scans and electrostatic discharges in air of up to 16 kV. It can operate between 0 °C and 50 °C and supports storage and transport temperatures ranging from -40 °C to 70 °C.

The Datalogic QuickScan Mobile QM2500 is suitable for retail and point-of-sale environments, including checkout operations, loyalty cards and electronic vouchers. It is also used in postal and banking services, public administration, utilities, access control, public transport, laboratories, pharmacies, patient care and light manufacturing.

The 433 MHz STAR radio technology is particularly useful in installations where mobility is required without the need for Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. The BC2090 base station enables connection to the host system via the interfaces supported by the platform.
