Philips 162B9T: Compact touchscreen monitor for interactive workstations

The Philips 162B9T is a 15.6-inch interactive touchscreen monitor designed for businesses requiring a space-saving and easy-to-use display solution. With 10-point multi-touch, HD resolution and an IP65-rated front panel, it is suitable for digital user interfaces, information systems and professional workstations.

Thanks to SmoothTouch technology, the flexibly adjustable stand and a range of video connections, the monitor can be integrated into existing IT environments. Its compact design allows it to be used at reception desks, service counters and workstations where space is limited.

Intuitive operation with 10-point multi-touch

The projected-capacitive SmoothTouch technology recognises up to ten touch points simultaneously. This allows users to control applications directly on the screen, make entries and interact with content.

The touch function supports input using fingers, the supplied touch pen and suitable gloves. The glass surface, with a hardness rating of 7H, offers additional protection during regular use. An integrated palm rejection feature reduces unintended input.

Touch signals are transmitted to the connected computer via a USB connection. This makes the screen suitable for applications requiring direct and straightforward user interaction.

15.6-inch HD display for clear content

The 15.6-inch TFT-LCD display offers a native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels in 16:9 format. With a brightness of 220 cd/m² and a refresh rate of 60 Hz, it displays user interfaces, forms and digital information.

The SmartImage technology adapts the image display to different types of content. SmartContrast dynamically optimises the contrast, whilst LowBlue mode reduces eye strain caused by short-wavelength blue light. EasyRead mode supports a more comfortable display of text-based content.

With a typical response time of 4 ms (grey-to-grey), the monitor is suitable for displaying and operating everyday business applications.

IP65-rated front panel for demanding environments

The front panel of the monitor meets protection class IP65 and is therefore protected against dust and water jets. This makes the touchscreen monitor particularly suitable for work environments where moisture, splashes or dust may occasionally be present.

The touch surface is sealed off from both the screen bezel and the LCD panel. This means the front panel offers additional protection during daily use.

The IP65 protection rating applies exclusively to the front panel. The other parts of the housing and the connections are not certified to this standard.

Flexible positioning and ergonomic operation

The Philips 162B9T features an adjustable stand, which allows the screen to be adapted to different operating positions. The tilt range of -5° to 90° allows for both a near-vertical display and a flatter position for touch input.

The stand also supports a swivel angle of 0° to 70°. This allows the monitor to be positioned, for example, for use whilst sitting or standing.

Thanks to the 100 x 100 mm VESA mount, the device can also be used with compatible monitor stands or wall mounts. This facilitates integration into space-saving workplace designs.

Extensive connectivity options for existing IT systems

With HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2, DVI-D and VGA, the touchscreen monitor offers a range of connection options for both modern and older computer systems. This enables businesses to integrate it into existing IT infrastructures without being reliant on a single video connection technology.

Two USB 3.1 ports allow additional peripherals to be connected. One of these supports fast charging in accordance with USB Battery Charging 1.2. A separate USB upstream connection is available for the touch function.

In addition, the screen features two built-in speakers, each with an output of 2 W, a PC audio input and a headphone output. A Kensington security lock port enables the device to be physically secured.

Applications and system compatibility

The Philips 162B9T is suitable for interactive information systems, reception areas, digital ordering interfaces, service workstations and compact control stations. Thanks to the combination of multi-touch, flexible positioning and a protected front panel, it can be used, for example, in retail environments, offices, training rooms and corporate service areas.

The monitor supports touch operation with the Windows versions listed by the manufacturer – 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 – as well as certain Android and Linux versions. Actual compatibility depends on the operating system used and its touch support. For newer operating system versions, compatibility should be checked before integration.

The 100 x 100 mm VESA mount allows the monitor to be used with suitable mounts. Thanks to the various video inputs, the device can be connected to compatible PCs, media players and other video sources. A supported USB touch connection is also required for interactive operation.
