Midland G7 EVO Pair of PMR446 Walkie-Talkies

Product description

Midland G7 EVO: two walkie-talkies with enhanced audio and up to 23 hours’ battery life

The Midland G7 EVO combines two PMR446/LPD walkie-talkies designed to maintain direct communication between colleagues without relying on mobile networks. It features improvements in sound reception, battery life and charging to make it easier to use during long working days.

With 87 channels, a backlit LCD screen and IPX4 protection, it is a practical solution for coordinating professional activities, events and teams working indoors or outdoors.

Clearer audio for easier communication

The G7 EVO features a 500 mW speaker that allows you to hear communications more clearly. Its increased audio power makes it easier to follow conversations in noisy environments.

It also features a receive noise filter which helps improve intelligibility when the received signal is weak. This technology acts on the received sound and should not be confused with microphone noise cancellation during transmission.

PMR446/LPD communication with 87 channels

The devices offer 16 PMR446 channels, 69 LPD channels and 2 RRM channels, as well as 38 CTCSS tones and 104 DCS codes. This configuration allows you to organise different communication groups and reduce the reception of unwanted transmissions.

The PMR446 band allows licence-free communication subject to the conditions set out in the applicable regulations. The use of LPD and RRM frequencies must be checked on a country-by-country basis.

The manufacturer states a maximum range of up to 12 km under favourable conditions. The actual range will depend on the terrain, obstacles and signal propagation conditions.

Up to 23 hours’ battery life and USB-C charging

Each walkie-talkie features a 1800 mAh rechargeable lithium-ion battery, with a claimed battery life of up to 23 hours. This allows communication to be maintained for extended periods without frequent recharging.

The built-in USB-C connection makes it easy to recharge the devices directly. The set also includes a dual desktop charger to keep both transceivers ready for their next use.

According to Midland, fast charging provides up to 8 hours’ battery life from a 30-minute charge. The approximate time for a full charge is 4 hours.

Larger display and splash protection

The LCD display is 30 per cent larger than that of the previous generation and features blue backlighting. It allows you to view the channels and the device’s functions more comfortably.

The IPX4 protection offers resistance to water splashes from various directions, an advantage for outdoor activities or environments where there may be moisture.

Its compact design makes it easy to carry, and each unit comes with a belt clip to keep it secure whilst on the move.

Features for better communications management

The VOX function allows transmission to be triggered by voice, whilst Scan makes it easy to search for activity across available channels.

The Dual Watch system allows you to monitor two channels and includes priority channel management. It also features a six-level adjustable squelch to adapt reception to different situations.

Other features, such as vibration alerts, keypad lock and ringtones, provide flexibility for everyday use.

Use cases and compatibility

The Midland G7 EVO is suitable for retail, hospitality, events, outdoor activities and team coordination where rapid communication is required.

On PMR446, it can communicate with other compatible walkie-talkies using the same frequency and channel settings. The Midland 2-pin connector allows the use of compatible external headsets and microphones, which are sold separately.

The pack includes two transceivers, two 1800 mAh batteries and a dual charger, so both units can be put into service without having to purchase a second radio.
