Product description

Philips SpeechMike Ambient PSM5020 - Mobile voice capture for AI workflows

The Philips SpeechMike Ambient PSM5020 is a professional portable microphone for dictation, speech recognition and AI-based applications. This configuration is specifically designed for mobile and hands-free work, combining ambient capture, Bluetooth LE and a lightweight design weighing just 42 g.

Four microphones for conversations and dictation

Its array of four beamforming MEMS microphones allows it to clearly capture audio from one or more speakers. The integrated ambient sound technology helps to structure the audio signal and reduce background noise to improve performance with compatible voice recognition and AI software.

Ambient Mode preserves natural sound capture for conversations, meetings or consultations, whilst Dictation Mode focuses on the main speaker and reduces voices in the background.

Designed for use on the move

The PSM5020 is designed for users who need to capture speech whilst on the move. It can be worn using the included clip or neck strap, allowing for hands-free use throughout the working day.

Its dimensions of 32 × 104 × 15 mm and weight of just 42 g make it ideal for prolonged use during consultations, visits, in offices, legal settings and other professional environments.

Bluetooth LE with secure communication

The wireless connection uses 2.4 GHz Bluetooth Low Energy and offers a range of up to 25 metres in open space. Philips incorporates encrypted communication and Passkey pairing to meet the security requirements of professional environments.

The system allows only one active connection at a time, helping to reduce unauthorised access, interference and man-in-the-middle attacks.

Up to 10 hours’ battery life

The rechargeable lithium-polymer battery offers up to 10 hours of continuous use. The PSM5020 can be recharged via USB-C, with an approximate charging time of 3 hours.

This battery life, combined with its portable design, makes it particularly suitable for professionals who need to keep voice capture available throughout long working days.

Ready for speech recognition and AI

SpeechMike Ambient is designed to provide high-quality audio input for dictation solutions, speech recognition and AI-based tools. It can be used for documentation, transcription, meetings, consultations, reports, letters and contracts.

Transcription, document generation and AI processing capabilities depend on the software or service used in conjunction with the device.

Integration with professional software

Philips provides an SDK and access to APIs to facilitate the integration of SpeechMike Ambient into desktop and mobile applications. This enables the management of button mapping, device settings and audio input from third-party solutions.

Among the compatible applications listed by Philips are Philips SpeechLive, Microsoft Dragon Copilot (Flex), Dragon Medical One, Dragon Legal 16, Dragon Professional 16, Solventum Fluency Direct, Solventum Fluency for Imaging, Dolbey Fusion Narrate and Tandem Health.

The evolution of SpeechOne towards greater mobility

SpeechMike Ambient forms part of Philips’ evolution towards a wireless platform that is more secure, scalable and tailored to current workflows. It maintains backwards compatibility with existing SpeechOne and SpeechMike workflows, facilitating the transition to a more modern solution.

In the PSM5020, this evolution is presented in a configuration specifically geared towards mobility: it includes the microphone, clip, strap and USB cable, but does not include the docking station or wireless adapter included with the PSM5000.
