Epson TM-U295 – Flatbed dot matrix printing in a compact format

The Epson TM-U295 is a flatbed dot matrix printer designed for business documents. Its design allows it to print cheques and receipts, whilst maintaining a compact footprint suitable for counters and workstations.

Flatbed printing suitable for POS documents

The TM-U295 utilises impact printing technology with a ribbon. Unlike a conventional roll-fed ticket printer, its flatbed design is intended for processing individual documents such as cheques and receipts.

This configuration is suitable for professional environments that require printing directly onto media inserted into the device. A ribbon is supplied with the printer to provide the consumables needed for its operation.

RS-232 connection for business equipment

This version features an RS-232 serial interface. It can therefore be connected to POS systems and business equipment compatible with this wired connection.

An interface designed to open a cash drawer is also built in, making it easier to use the printer at a till.

Compact footprint on the workstation

Measuring just 180 x 191 x 102 mm, the TM-U295 takes up very little space on a counter. Weighing just 1.6 kg, it is also easy to install in a variety of professional environments.

Its Epson Cool White finish allows it to blend in with light-coloured POS equipment and professional peripherals.

Operating conditions suitable for indoor use

The printer can operate at temperatures between 5 °C and 40 °C and at relative humidity levels between 30 per cent and 85 per cent. For storage, Epson specifies a range of -10 °C to 50 °C and a humidity range of 30 per cent to 90 per cent.

The stated operating noise level is 65 dB(A). The manufacturer’s warranty is 12 months with return-to-base service, with optional extensions available.

Use cases and compatibility

The Epson TM-U295 is suitable for point-of-sale terminals and business workstations requiring the printing of cheques or receipts. This model uses an RS-232 connection and can control the opening of a cash drawer. The PS-180 24 V power supply unit and its mains cable are sold separately by Epson and are not included in the box contents listed in the manufacturer’s specifications.
