The Datalogic QuickScan I QD2220 is a wired 1D barcode scanner designed for professional applications requiring fast and accurate reading of linear codes. Part of the QuickScan 2200 series, it combines Linear Imager technology, a USB connection and a lightweight, balanced design, making it particularly suitable for POS terminals and data capture tasks.
This configuration is supplied as a complete kit and includes the black scanner, the 90A052065 USB cable and the STD-QW25-BK folding stand. It is therefore a solution ready for integration into a wired workstation.
The QuickScan I QD2220 utilises a solid-state CCD sensor developed for reading linear barcodes. It automatically recognises the main 1D standards, including linear GS1 DataBar codes, offering the versatility required for numerous commercial and administrative applications.
The imaging technology is also particularly well-suited to long barcodes, which are frequently found on documents, bills and packaging. The wide scan angle and extended read line make it easier to frame the code and reduce the need for repeated attempts.
Performance reaches 400 scans per second, equivalent to a maximum processing rate of 1,000,000 pixels per second. The maximum resolution is 0.077 mm, equivalent to 3 mil, whilst the minimum required print contrast ratio is 15 per cent.
Motion tolerance reaches 40 IPS, helping to maintain effective scanning during normal operations at the till or counter. The light source uses a 617 nm red LED, producing a scan line that is clearly visible to the operator.
The system incorporates Datalogic Green Spot technology, which projects a visual confirmation directly onto the code when the read is successfully completed. This indication complements the ‘good read’ LED and the audible signal with adjustable pitch.
The combination of the various feedback systems allows the operator to quickly verify that the code has been successfully scanned, a feature that is particularly useful at workstations with a continuous flow of operations or in environments where the audible signal might be less easily heard.
The QuickScan I QD2220 offers awide depth of field, which varies depending on the code size, print quality, contrast and lighting conditions. With a 4-mil Code 39, the typical reading distance is between 2.5 and 22 cm, whilst with a 10-mil Code 39 it can reach up to 60 cm.
With larger codes, the reading distances increase further: a 20-mil Code 39 can be read from up to 103 cm, whilst for 13-mil EAN/UPC codes, the specified reading range extends up to 68 cm. This flexibility facilitates scanning both at close range and from greater distances.
In addition to printed barcodes, the scanner is designed to capture electronic coupons displayed on smartphone screens. It can also scan through plexiglass barriers, a useful feature at service counters or retail outlets fitted with transparent partitions.
These capabilities broaden the range of applications beyond simple label scanning, making the device suitable for loyalty schemes, digital coupons, ticketing and other processes where codes are presented directly on a mobile device.
Weighing just 123 g and measuring 156 × 67 × 107 mm, the QuickScan I QD2220 is designed to offer good handling during repeated use. The balanced design makes it easy to grip and operate the trigger during day-to-day tasks.
Its robust construction is tailored for professional environments: the scanner can withstand repeated drops from 1.5 m onto concrete, whilst the trigger is designed to withstand up to 3 million presses. The IP42 protection rating helps to protect the device against solid particles and water droplets.
The scanner supports ambient light levels ranging from 0 to 120,000 lux, allowing it to be used in environments with varying lighting conditions. The operating temperature ranges from 0 °C to 50 °C, whilst the storage and transport temperature ranges from -40 °C to 70 °C.
Protection against electrostatic discharge reaches 16 kV in air and the supported humidity level goes up to 95 per cent non-condensing; these features are designed to ensure stable operation under normal professional working conditions.
This specific configuration of the QuickScan I QD2220 is a USB-only version. The kit includes the 90A052065 USB cable, allowing the scanner to be connected to a compatible workstation via a wired interface.
Power consumption during operation is less than 165 mA at 5 V, whilst in standby it drops below 40 mA. The required input voltage is 5 VDC ±5%.
The manufacturer’s configuration software, Datalogic Aladdin, is available for managing the device. The platform allows you to adjust the scanner’s parameters and generate programming barcodes, making it easier to configure workstations.
Also available are the JavaPOS and OPOS utilities and the Remote Host Download function – useful tools in professional environments where it is necessary to integrate and manage scanning devices within the corporate infrastructure.
