How to set up Manual APNs on your Android mobile phone

If you are having trouble getting 3G/4G or Internet connectivity on your new Android SIM-free mobile phone, you may need to manually enter your APN settings.

It sounds complicated, but it’s quite simple, here’s how:

The first thing you’ll need to do is to get the ‘APN settings’ from your mobile network provider.  You’ll need the following information:

   Name
   APN
   Username
   Password
   MMSC
   MMS Proxy
   MMS Port

This should be easy to find on your provider’s website, or by searching for it on the Internet. Call us if you need any help finding this information.

Now, it’s time to set up your phone:

1.    From your home screen, select Settings,  then Mobile Networks (this maybe in More).

2.    Select Access Point Names.

3.    Press New APN, and enter the information that you found from your provider.

4.    When all of this information has been entered, press Menu, then Save.

Once the settings are authenticated by the network, you should be able to connect to the data network with no problems.
